Tua Tagovailoa is pulling back the curtain on his private life to celebrate a milestone.
Taking to Instagram on Monday, the 25-year-old Dolphins quarterback gave fans a rare peek at his relationship with wife Annah as the couple marked one year of marriage.
“Never one to put my private life out there. But this one deserved a post. Happy 1 Year Anniversary to my beautiful wife. I love you,” Tagovailoa captioned the post, which included an array of photos featuring Annah.
Tagovailoa quietly wed Annah last summer.
As news of Tagovailoa’s marriage spread, the former first-round pick told reporters it is “almost kind of disrespectful” that word got out.
“I mean, for me, I love to keep my life as private as possible and that’s what we tried to do with me, my wife, and my daily,” Tagovailoa said at Dolphins training camp in August 2022.
“But obviously in this world that’s not how it is. It’s almost kind of disrespectful by doing that but it is what it is. Can’t do anything about it. I have a wife.”
Though Tagovailoa and Annah have kept much of their relationship under wraps, the couple appeared to welcome a baby last year, with the former Alabama product opening up about fatherhood around Thanksgiving.
“It’s very unique how having a child impacts how you see things differently in life,” Tagovailoa previously said, according to the South Florida Sun Sentinel.
“I’ve always had a tremendous amount of heart for kids, but now that I have one of my own, you go home and the best thing is when you see them smile and laughing. It’s the best thing in the world.”
Tagovailoa is now preparing for his fourth season with the Dolphins.
However, he did consider retirement after suffering three concussions during the 2022 season.
“Yeah, I think I considered it, you know, for a time, having sat down with my family, having sat down with my wife and having those kind of conversations,” Tagavaolia said in April. “It would be hard for me to walk away from this game with how old I am and with my son. It’s my health. My body. I feel like this is what’s best for me.”
The Dolphins picked up Tagovailoa’s fifth-year option in March.
Miami will open the season in Los Angeles on Sunday, Sept. 10, against the Chargers.
