The Mets announced Friday that Bartolo Colon will officially retire as a Met on Sunday, Sept. 17, prior to a game against the Reds.
In early June, it had been reported that Colon was hanging up his spikes for good.
Colon, 50, pitched with the Mets from 2014-16 and had a 3.90 ERA.
Former manager Terry Collins is also scheduled to be in attendance.
The right-hander last pitched in the majors in 2018 with the Rangers.
Colon is the oldest player to hit his first major league homer when he did it with the Mets at 42 years old, 349 days against then-San Diego Padres pitcher James Shields on May 7, 2016.
The right-hander pitched at the team’s Old Timers’ game last summer and threw out a pitch before the team’s May 7 game this year to commemorate his memorable homer.
The team also announced that the first 15,000 fans in attendance at the game will receive a “Big Sexy” long-sleeve shirt.
