Marlins already spiraling toward possible trade deadline selloff

At 0-7, the Marlins already look like likely sellers.

They dangled Jesus Luzardo earlier. Their most serious talks were with the Orioles, who acquired Corbin Burnes instead. Luzardo isn’t a free agent until after 2026.

Edward Cabrera is another viable trade candidate.

The Padres have been considering Tommy Pham but want to stay under the $237 million first-tied luxury-tax threshold. That would leave them just $2M-$3M. They’d also prefer to have money for the trade deadline.


Hard to believe Brandon Belt is still out there. But first base is a tough spot. Also free are Trey Mancini, Luke Voit and others.


Nick Pivetta was a trade target this winter, but his value is increasing with two more very good starts. He should do well in free agency.
