Kings-Celtics pick
The Sacramento Kings continue their East Coast road trip by heading north to New England for a matchup with the Boston Celtics.
BetMGM is favoring Boston by 8.5 points. This is kind of a tricky spread because Jaylen Brown and Derrick White will both miss tonight’s game, but ultimately I still think the Celtics have enough talent to overcome their absences.
Jayson Tatum is still suiting up for Boston, and he’s having a great season at 27.2 points per game. Boston’s excellent additions of Kristaps Porzingis and Jrue Holiday look good to go as well, and a strong bench of Al Horford, Peyton Pritchard, and Sam Hauser can fill in the gaps. It’s also important to remember that the Celtics are third in defensive efficiency, so they can still control games with less-than-ideal offensive outings.
The Kings have been fading a bit entering this game (lost three of their last five), and Malik Monk’s MCL injury isn’t helping the cause. They also played last night in New York, so they’ll be at a rest disadvantage tonight. Even though Domantas Sabonis and De’Aaron Fox are a really good duo, it’s harder to trust the rest of the supporting cast with Monk out.
